Muslim woman arrested at Ben Gurion Airport on way to vacation: "I didn't know I had to enlist"

Sabrin Danishevsky, a 20-year-old Muslim woman from Jaffa, was arrested at Ben Gurion Airport while heading to Albania after a travel ban was discovered due to her failure to regulate her status with the IDF. She was transferred to Prison 10 and released after over 24 hours. Her mother claims her daughter did not know she needed to regulate her status, and that this may stem from a registration error at the Interior Ministry.

Sabrin Danishevsky, a 20-year-old Muslim woman from Jaffa, was arrested yesterday (Tuesday, October 6, 2026) at Ben Gurion Airport on her way to a flight to Albania. A check at the airport revealed that a travel ban had been issued against her due to her failure to regulate her status with the IDF. She was transferred to Prison 10 and released after more than 24 hours in custody. Her mother, Diana Danishevsky, claims that her daughter did not know she was required to regulate her status with the military, and that this may stem from a registration error at the Interior Ministry – according to her, Sabrin is not registered as a Muslim in the Interior Ministry, while the rest of the family members are. The mother describes her daughter as stunned and traumatized following the arrest, and claims the treatment she received was shocking. The IDF stated that Sabrin is not registered as a Muslim, and therefore was required to regulate her status with the military and the Interior Ministry, and that she did not cooperate with orders sent to her. The Interior Ministry did not respond.
