Musk adopts Trump's branding - and declares: I will change the name of my AI company
Elon Musk declared on X that he will change the name of his artificial intelligence company from SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI, following an order by US President Donald Trump to federal government bodies to use the terms Super Intelligence and SI instead of Artificial Intelligence and AI. Musk responded positively to a user's suggestion, but at this stage it is a statement in a tweet and not an official move.
Elon Musk stated in response to a post on the social network X that he will change the name of his artificial intelligence company from SpaceXAI to SpaceXSI. The statement comes following an order by US President Donald Trump to federal government bodies to replace the term Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Super Intelligence (SI) in official documents and publications. A user on X suggested Musk change the name accordingly, and Musk replied: "Yes, we will make the change." At this stage it is a statement in a tweet and not an official move announced by the company. Trump's order does not bind private companies, but Musk, it seems, was quick to adopt the new branding. In February, Musk announced the merger of SpaceX with xAI, a move that brought under one roof SpaceX's space and satellite businesses, xAI's artificial intelligence operations, the Grok chatbot, and the social network X. Four months later, in June, SpaceX completed the largest public offering in history: the company raised $75 billion at a valuation of $1.77 trillion, and its shares began trading on the Nasdaq. The group's AI activity, previously called xAI, has since operated under the name SpaceXAI. Now it may change its name again.
