Gantz refused Likud's offer to be appointed minister in the current government

Blue and White chairman Benny Gantz refused Likud's offer to be appointed as defense minister in the current government. The offer was made during negotiations between the parties as a sign of seriousness and as part of the "national unity government" campaign. Likud denied that Gantz received a formal offer, while Blue and White stated that the only relevant offer is the establishment of a broad Zionist government.

Blue and White chairman Benny Gantz refused Likud's offer to be appointed as defense minister in the current government, as reported this evening (Sunday) on Kan News. The offer was made in principle during negotiations between the parties as a sign of seriousness and as part of the "national unity government" campaign. Likud responded that Gantz did not receive an offer for a reserved slot. Blue and White stated that the only relevant offer is the establishment of a broad Zionist government that will address the real problems of Israeli citizens, and that Gantz is not interested in jobs, honors, or reserved slots. In an interview with the program "Meeting with Roni Koven" broadcast last night on Kan 11, Gantz confirmed that he held negotiations with Likud. Last month, Dedi Simchi, former fire and rescue commissioner, decided not to run with Gantz on the Blue and White list.
