The Jerusalem Municipality, in collaboration with the football clubs Beitar and Hapoel Jerusalem, today (Monday) unveiled the mural "Unity" at Teddy Stadium, in memory of Uri Danino and Hirsch Goldberg-Polin z"l. The two, young Jerusalemites who were abducted from the Nova party on October 7, 2023, and murdered in Hamas captivity after 328 days, became a symbol of mutual responsibility. The artwork, by Jerusalem artist Tomer Peretz, depicts Uri and Hirsch embracing in the stadium, wearing the jerseys of the rival teams – Uri, a Beitar fan, and Hirsch, a Hapoel fan. The bereaved families and Mayor Moshe Lion attended the ceremony. Hirsch's mother, Rachel Goldberg-Polin, said, "Two hearts, one city Jerusalem, together." Uri's father, Elchanan Danino, called on fans to maintain mutual respect and avoid graffiti vandalism. Mayor Lion emphasized that the mural is a reminder that what unites is greater than what divides.
