Mozart's "The Magic Flute" opens the new season of the Israeli Opera

The director is Nikolaus Habjan, and the conductor is Dan Ettinger. Performances will take place from October 16 to 29, 2026, at the Tel Aviv Opera House. The production was planned for last season, but rehearsals and preparations had to be halted due to the outbreak of the war with Iran. Soloists from abroad, who were already in Israel, continued rehearsing until the last minute. The opera thanks the Dortmund Theater for rescheduling dates and the soloists for their dedication. The plot centers on Prince Tamino and the birdcatcher Papageno rescuing Princess Pamina. Habjan's production is known for using Klappmaulpuppen rod puppets, which are operated by actors' hands and create an effect of blurring the line between life and death. The roles are performed by leading soloists: George Virban, David Kerber, Alla Vasilevitskaya, Yael Levita, Hila Fahima, Nofar Yakobi, and others. The opera is performed in German with Hebrew and English subtitles.
