More than three accidents a day: the alarming data on heavy vehicles

A report by the "Or Yarok" association reveals alarming data on the involvement of heavy vehicles in road accidents in Israel in 2025. According to the report, 116 trucks and buses were involved in fatal accidents, an 8% increase compared to the previous year. In total, more than three heavy vehicles are involved in an accident every day. The data is broken down by city: in Tel Aviv-Jaffa, 87 heavy vehicles were involved in accidents, 7 of which were fatal; in Jerusalem, 73, with 2 fatal; in Haifa, 32, with 1 fatal; in Be'er Sheva, 21, with 1 fatal; in Ashdod, 19, with 4 fatal; and in Petah Tikva, 18, with 5 fatal. Over the past decade (2016-2025), 1,157 heavy vehicles were involved in accidents in Tel Aviv, 53 of them fatal. The association warns that this is an alarming trend indicating the worst year in a decade in this area.
