More riots in France, protesters with keffiyehs in Paris. The protest also spreads to Belgium

The student protest riots in France continue and spread to Belgium. In Paris, clashes resumed, police fired tear gas to disperse protesters blocking a school. Over 6,600 have been arrested since the protests began. Prime Minister Lecornu accused the far-left of exploiting the anger for electoral purposes. The right and President Trump claim it is an attempt by Islam to take over France.

The riots within the student protest in France resumed on Thursday afternoon, as Paris police used tear gas to disperse teenagers who overturned trash bins and blocked roads outside the Hélène Boucher school in the northeast of the city. The wave of protests, which politicians from the right and center accuse the far-left of encouraging, shows no signs of abating and has also spread to neighboring Belgium, where similar riots were recorded. In France, protest marches also took place in Nantes, Rennes, Bron, Toulon, Marseille, and other cities. The student protest began on September 17 and gained momentum last week, as students from hundreds of schools, especially in poor suburbs, began blocking school entrances, taking over roads, and setting bins on fire to protest neglected infrastructure, overcrowded classrooms, and teacher shortages. Since the protests began, at least 24 schools have been set on fire or looted, and 85 teaching staff have been injured. In the clashes, nearly 800 police officers and 215 teenagers were injured. Across France, more than 6,600 people have been arrested, most of them teenagers, of whom 1,800 will be prosecuted, including 1,483 minors. Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu accused Jean-Luc Mélenchon's party "France Unbowed" of trying to sow chaos ahead of the presidential elections. Former President Donald Trump posted a statement accusing the protests of being an expression of uncontrolled immigration and an attempt by Islam to take over France. France announced the suspension of the use of stun grenades, following an incident in which a 15-year-old boy's hand was severed.
