Rivka Benadi, the mother of Meital Sa'ar and mother-in-law of Kfar Saba Mayor Rafi Sa'ar, told Lahav 433 investigators that approximately 190,000 shekels in cash found in her home belong to her daughter, and that she asked her to keep them for her. The statements were made as part of the investigation into the municipal corruption affair, in which suspicions of bribery involving Meital Sa'ar are being examined. Benadi was arrested for about three days and subsequently released under restrictive conditions. Her attorney, Adv. Gadi Afriat, stated that she does not remember what she said in the interrogation due to exhaustion. According to sources familiar with the investigation details, a distinction should be made between the seized cash and the 153,000 shekels in victim of hostilities benefits that Benadi received, which were proven to the investigative unit. Meital Sa'ar has maintained her right to silence in her interrogation regarding the cash. Concurrently, there is a suspicion that businesspeople approached her due to her access to the mayor, in exchange for transferring funds.
