Medical device startup Filterlex Medical has filed for liquidation in the Haifa District Court, accumulating NIS 1.3 million in debt. The company, chaired by Dr. Shimon Eckhouse, developed a system to protect against embolisms during catheter-based heart procedures. The application states the company never generated revenue and has ceased all activity. Its financing came entirely from investors and R&D grants. A competitor study from Boston Scientific showed limited benefit for the type of product Filterlex developed, leading the board to suspend activity in June 2025. The company has been run by an unsalaried CEO since then. Attempts to sell the intellectual property failed, prompting the liquidation filing.
