Mamdani's organization attacks: dismantle two units in the NYPD

The statement follows an incident last Thursday, where federal immigration agents surrounded Oscar Belgal, a suspected gang member, in the Marble Hill neighborhood. The agents fired at his car and wounded him in the neck, while his 5-year-old son sat in the back seat. Police Commissioner Tisch clarified that the police were not involved in the operation, but noted that Belgal has a criminal record including robbery and drug distribution charges. DSA congressional candidate Darilyza Avila Chevalier called for Tisch's resignation, accusing her, a Jewish and pro-Israel figure, of protecting a militia of immigration thugs. Mamdani clarified that he does not intend to change the police leadership at this stage, but noted his intention to dismantle the Strategic Response Team. He promised to review the events and consider actions to protect residents from immigration authority terror.
