The lawsuit includes screenshots from the fraternity's Snapchat group, in which other members called to come to the room. The original complaint to the university police was closed that same month without charges. Now, the lawsuit accuses the university of covering up for the students and imposing light penalties, such as written assignments. Following the public uproar, District Attorney Matthew Van Houten announced the reopening of the criminal investigation. The university rejected the claims and emphasized that it imposed significant penalties, including suspensions and the closure of the fraternity chapter.
