Life sentence for the elderly man's murderer: covered his mouth with duct tape, abandoned him, and left him to choke to death
The Nazareth District Court sentenced Muhammad Sabih, a resident of Kfar Mazar, to life imprisonment for the aggravated murder of Abdullah Saadi, 76. Sabih broke into the victim's apartment, bound him with duct tape wrapped around his head, blocking his breathing, stole money and jewelry, and abandoned him to choke to death. His accomplice in planning the robbery was sentenced to four and a half years in prison.
The Nazareth District Court today (Thursday) sentenced Muhammad Sabih, a resident of Kfar Mazar in the Galilee, to life imprisonment for the aggravated murder of Abdullah Saadi, 76, from the village of Muqeible, about three years ago. In addition, Sabih was ordered to pay 258,000 shekels in compensation to the victim's family. According to the indictment, Sabih broke into the victim's apartment late at night with another person. The two bound Saadi with duct tape, wrapping the tape around his head in a way that blocked his airways, and searched for a safe. They stayed at the scene for about 50 minutes, stole money and jewelry, and abandoned the deceased while he was still bound. Saadi choked to death as a result. Sabih's accomplice, Ya'akov (Samir) Zu'abi, who was convicted of planning the robbery and was not present at the scene, was sentenced to four and a half years in prison. Zu'abi had prior acquaintance with Saadi and visited his home the day before the murder. The trial of another suspect in the case is still ongoing.
