Residents of Moshav Azriel, near the city of Tayibe, live under constant threat of gunfire from agricultural land that has become an illegal construction site. Aerial photos produced by the Regavim movement reveal that at least six new structures have been erected in the area since 2018, and there are now 17 residential compounds, some of them villas with swimming pools, just meters from the moshav fence. Residents share internal messages about moments of terror: "My wall at home was shaking," "The first shooting was definitely inside the moshav." They describe deep frustration with the police response: repeated calls to the emergency center did not result in patrol cars arriving. One resident said: "We called several times, they said a patrol car would arrive within minutes – which didn't happen." The Regavim movement contacted the Tayibe municipality as early as 2016 regarding a deviant construction of a structure approved as a 25-square-meter agricultural building. The municipality replied that the matter was being handled, but in practice the structure became a luxurious villa with a pool. The article presents a continuous enforcement failure, both by the local authority and the police, against the backdrop of escalating shooting incidents.
