British traveler Karl Bushby completed a 28-year徒步环球旅行 that began on November 1, 1998, in Chile. Over this time, he walked more than 48,000 kilometers through 29 countries, moving exclusively on foot and without using transportation. The route passed through South America, the dangerous Darien Gap, Alaska, the icy Bering Strait, Siberia, and other Asian territories. After crossing the Caspian Sea in 31 days, he reached Europe. The final stage was a swim from France to Great Britain lasting 20 hours, spread over three days. On October 5 at 3:30 PM, he stepped onto Shakespeare Beach, where he was greeted by his father Keith Bushby and filmmaker Werner Herzog, who is shooting a documentary. Bushby overcame the 2008 economic crisis, the pandemic, and geopolitical obstacles. He is expected to finish the hike in his hometown of Hull in November.
