The Lebanese judiciary issued arrest warrants on Tuesday for two Hezbollah officials following the seizure of a shipment of highly explosive materials about two weeks ago. According to the AFP news agency, citing a judicial source, the government commissioner to the military court, Judge Claude Ghanem, issued the warrants after preliminary investigations identified the two officials. Security agencies are working to locate them for arrest. On the 8th of this month, security forces seized a truck carrying 500 kilograms of highly explosive materials as it was being transported from eastern Lebanon towards Beirut, arresting the driver and another person. Hezbollah later acknowledged that the explosives belonged to it and were intended for resistance against the Israeli occupation. This comes amid increasing pressure on the party, which has been weakened by two successive wars with Israel since 2023 and the previous government's decision to disarm it.
