Lady Gaga's No. 1 Fan Who Disappeared Returns After Two Years: "I Was Held in a Belarusian Prison"
Kirill Nevin, the administrator of the fan platform Gaga Daily, disappeared in 2024 and was held in a Belarusian prison for two years after participating in protests against the Lukashenko regime. He was released in April 2026 and revealed his story, which includes surreal experiences in prison with bald inmates who love gay anthems.
Kirill Nevin, 32, founded the fan platform Gaga Daily in 2009 when he was 14, amassing over 4 million followers on social media. In February 2024, he was arrested in Minsk after participating in protests against the regime of Alexander Lukashenko and sentenced to 18 months in prison. In March 2025, his sentence was extended by another year. Upon his arrest, the platform went silent, and its followers wondered about his fate. At the end of September 2026, after serving his sentence, Nevin tweeted on X and explained his absence. In interviews with Western media, he recounted his surreal experiences in prison, including listening to a radio that played Lady Gaga songs alongside gay anthems, while surrounded by bald inmates. He kept his identity as the platform's administrator a secret for fear of his safety. The human rights organization Viasna confirmed the veracity of his story. According to the organization's data, 884 political prisoners are still held in the Belarusian prison system.
