Mladanov: Coordination for bringing private goods into Gaza suspended due to Hamas

Nikolai Mladanov, Director General of the Peace Council, reported that the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories informed him of the suspension of coordination for the entry of private sector goods into the Gaza Strip, following reports of threats and coercion by Hamas. Mladanov called for the rapid deployment of the National Committee for the Management of Gaza and the International Stabilization Force, emphasizing the need to act without delay to implement the plan approved by UN Security Council Resolution 2803.

Nikolai Mladanov, Director General of the Peace Council, stated today (Thursday) that the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) informed him in a letter of the suspension of coordination for the entry of private sector goods into the Gaza Strip. The suspension follows reports of threats and coercion by Hamas against merchants. Mladanov said that "intimidating merchants and interfering with the supply chain only deepen the suffering of civilians in Gaza," and called for the rapid deployment of the National Committee for the Management of Gaza (NCAG) backed by the International Stabilization Force (ISF). According to him, these developments highlight the urgency of protecting civilian supplies, humanitarian aid, and commercial activity from coercion and exploitation. Mladanov called on all parties to cooperate in implementing the comprehensive plan approved by UN Security Council Resolution 2803, which includes the decommissioning of weapons and a transition to a legitimate interim government.
