Jordan: The occupation is trying to erase Palestine among the rubble of Gaza and the lands of the West Bank
King Abdullah II affirmed in a speech before the UN General Assembly that Israel is trying to erase the Palestinian existence through two paths: the destruction of Gaza and the de facto annexation of the West Bank. He criticized the international community's handling of the conflict, describing international resolutions as "ink on paper," warning that the Israeli goal is to make the establishment of a Palestinian state impossible.
Jordanian King Abdullah II affirmed in a speech before the UN General Assembly that what is happening in the Gaza Strip and the occupied West Bank represents two paths of an attempt to erase the Palestinian existence and impose a new reality. He said the attempt at erasure is happening through "the paths of destruction in Gaza and the de facto annexation of lands in the West Bank," considering that what is happening in the two areas is not two separate stories but two faces of one strategy. The king criticized the international community's handling of the conflict, saying it chose to manage the conflict instead of confronting it, and that it treated each new Israeli violation as temporary, affirming that international resolutions "remain ink on paper" when it comes to Israel. He added that the international community continues to ignore Israeli violations in Syria, considering that this gives the occupation a green light to continue. He stressed that any threat to Jordan's northern borders or its water security represents a threat to the kingdom's national security. He affirmed that the Israeli goal is to make the establishment of a Palestinian state impossible.
