"It's my privilege to raise such a child": The journey of Noam and his mother Lisa

Noam Aharon was born premature, contracted a deadly infection, and underwent a series of complex brain surgeries in his first months of life. His mother Lisa recounts the difficult journey, eight consecutive months of hospitalization, and the chilling moment on the eve of Independence Day 2004. Today he lives at the 'Aleh' rehabilitation center in Bnei Brak, and his mother continues to lead the fight for his quality of life out of faith and seeing the good.

Noam Aharon was born premature, contracted a deadly infection, and underwent a series of complex brain surgeries in his first months of life. His mother Lisa recounts the difficult journey: eight consecutive months of hospitalization, during which he underwent between four and five brain surgeries. The most chilling moment was on the eve of Independence Day 2004, when the surgical wound on his head opened and burst, leaving a hole from which fluids leaked and the inside of his brain was exposed. The sight led to many long years of continuous medical struggle with drains, shunts, and recurring infections. Today Noam lives at the rehabilitation center of the 'Aleh' network in Bnei Brak. Lisa makes sure to visit him several times a week on long drives, while managing a career and raising her four other children. The strength to continue was born from a perceptual change following a Torah lesson, which turned pain into an understanding of purpose: 'It's my privilege to raise such a child.'
