The Dutch prosecution announced it will not open a criminal investigation against the 22-year-old Palestinian student from Gaza, who posted an Instagram video in which he pointed at Hamas terrorists in footage of the October 7 massacre and said "This is me." The Dutch prosecution announced it will not open a criminal investigation against the 22-year-old Palestinian student from Gaza, who in an Instagram video pointed at masked Hamas terrorists in footage from the October 7 massacre and identified himself as one of them. The prosecution and police determined that the video does not constitute a criminal offense, and there is no evidence of incitement, glorification of terrorism, or involvement in the attack. Maastricht University, which suspended the student on Sunday, said it will discuss his return to studies. According to the university, the student said it was a "misunderstanding" and that he is confident the review will prove this. The university noted that the affair caused unrest among parts of the university community, and an additional meeting will be held to determine how he can study in a safe environment. Education Minister Riana Letschert met with a delegation of Jewish students and faculty, leaving the decision to the university. The student posted the video about a week ago, in which he is seen watching a report on the massacre and saying "Seventh of October. This is me." The video has since been deleted.
