Israelis against Israelis — scandal in a popular Berlin group

The administrator of a group for Israelis in Berlin, "Normal Israelis in Berlin," changed its name to "Palestinians and Israelis in Berlin" without warning and added a call to oppose the occupation to the description. The description in Hebrew, Arabic, and English now includes a call to oppose the occupation. The group had about 22,500 members. After the name change, at least 1,000 people left, joining alternative groups. Many members were outraged that the group, previously used for finding housing, events, and socializing, turned into a political platform. Others supported starting such a conversation, noting that many Israeli Arabs live in Berlin. The story spread to other platforms, including X. Several new groups have emerged uniting Israelis in Berlin "without politics."
