Israel Aerospace Industries today unveils HawkGuard, a new active protection system for intercepting drones and aerial threats. The system integrates radar, electro-optical sensors, an AI-based command and control system, and interceptor drones, without a warhead or explosive charge, enabling safe interception without blast or secondary explosion. Maariv has learned that the IDF has already deployed the system at several sites in the north and south of the country to protect maneuvering forces. IAI CEO Guy Bar Lev said the system adds a new interception capability to the multi-layered defense array. Elta CEO Dror Bar noted that the system provides a cheap and flexible solution for point defense. The system is designed to address the drone threat, which has become a leading factor in armies worldwide following the Russia-Ukraine war and the 'Swords of Iron' war.
