From an unexpected direction: Has a solution been found for the doctor shortage?

The Masa organization is expanding its program to recruit Jewish doctors from Latin America, against the backdrop of the acute shortage of doctors in Israel. The first cohort is expected to land in December at Soroka, after about 95% of graduates of the previous program from the former Soviet Union remained in the country.

The Masa organization is expanding its 'Masa-Doctors' program to Latin America, against the backdrop of the acute shortage of doctors in Israel. Until now, the program focused on communities from the former Soviet Union and recruited about 1,200 doctors, of whom about 95% remained in Israel. The first cohort from the new track is expected to land this December and begin its absorption at Soroka Medical Center in Be'er Sheva. The program includes medical Hebrew studies, preparation for licensing exams, and hospital tours. The organization's CEO, Meir Holtz, said the expansion opens a door to a large community of excellent young Jewish doctors.
