Israel's ambassador to the US, Yechiel Leiter, gave an interview to CNN addressing a range of diplomatic and security issues, alongside the medical condition of his son Neriah, who was seriously wounded in a car-ramming attack on Highway 443 last month. Leiter said his son is still in a deep coma but has shown slight improvement and is breathing on his own. Regarding the violence in Judea and Samaria, the ambassador condemned the attack on Washington Post reporter Heidi Levine, calling the violence "completely unacceptable." He presented data showing that in 2025, 26 Jews were killed by Palestinian terrorists compared to two Arabs killed by Jewish rioters, emphasizing that this is a fringe group of 50 to 200 lawbreakers out of approximately 600,000 Jewish residents. "We must stop them," he declared. On the political front, Leiter said Prime Minister Netanyahu made it clear that Itamar Ben-Gvir would not be defense minister. Regarding Iran, he outlined three necessary conditions for regional stability. On the relationship between Netanyahu and Trump, the ambassador attested to a deep friendship spanning about 40 years.
