Iran sends a direct message to Americans: 'We will kill Trump'

Iran hung a giant billboard in Tehran with the inscription 'We will kill Trump' following the congressional elections and during the week marking the 1979 hostage crisis. The procession featured caricatures of Trump. Khamenei tried to temper the enthusiasm.

Iran hung a giant billboard in Enqelab Square in central Tehran, bearing a promise in English: 'We will kill Trump'. The image shows the US president behind bars. The billboard was unveiled this week, after the congressional elections in which Republicans suffered a crushing defeat, and during the week Iran marks the anniversary of the 1979 hostage crisis. In a procession in front of the former US embassy, a woman carried a portrait of Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei and a card reading 'Kill Trump'. A conservative MP claimed Iran had influenced the election results, and the deputy speaker of parliament called the losses 'aftershocks' of Trump's defeat. Khamenei tried to temper the enthusiasm and wrote that those hoping for a change in US behavior are 'gravely mistaken'. The head of Iran's negotiating team, Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf, called on Trump to respect the American people's decision.
