Instead of the Education Ministry finding teachers for her injured daughter, the mother was asked to help in the search

A 12th-grade student who was injured and underwent surgery is left without adequate academic support ahead of her matriculation exams. Her mother claims she was asked to help find teachers: "I'm a mother caring for a child after surgery. How am I supposed to start looking for teachers?"

Aviv (a pseudonym), a 17-and-a-half-year-old 12th-grade student from the Sharon region, was injured in August while working during the summer break, underwent knee surgery in early October, and now uses a walker. Her mother, Ariella (a pseudonym), claims that despite repeated appeals to the school and the Education Ministry, her daughter is not receiving home-based academic support tailored to her medical condition and learning disabilities. According to her, the school did not offer the option of receiving education services for sick children, which includes teachers coming to the home. The Education Ministry hotline told her there was difficulty finding teachers in her area, and she was asked to provide names of teachers she knows. Following a Walla inquiry, one teacher was found who is supposed to teach two subjects for ten hours via Zoom, but the start date has not been confirmed. Aviv has matriculation exams in five subjects. The mother went to the home of Education Minister Yoav Kisch, who spoke with her. The Education Ministry stated that they are accompanying the student and a temporary study schedule has already been built.
