A fire broke out in the gas pipeline between the Al-Shula area and Deir ez-Zor in eastern Syria, according to Reuters. The Syrian state oil company announced that the explosion occurred at the pipeline's isolation valve. The state news agency SANA reported that the explosion was caused by deliberate sabotage, but did not specify who was responsible. As a result of the fire, gas flow from the Jbeisa station to local power generation stations was halted. Firefighting teams isolated the area and attempted to extinguish the fire by reducing the gas volume in the pipeline. The incident joins a series of explosions that have recently occurred in Syria: a few days ago, an ammunition explosion at a military base with no casualties, and two similar incidents from the beginning of the month in which 16 people were killed. In recent months, explosions have also occurred at missile warehouses of the Syrian army's air defense battalion. The IDF attacked regime weapons in southern Syria using fighter jets.
