"I courted Altshuler more than I courted my wife"

Emil Weinshel, founder of Vishor Globaltech, together with Yair Levenstein, acquires approximately 55% of Altshuler Shaham Finance shares for NIS 1 billion. In his first interview, he describes the lengthy courtship of Gilad Altshuler, the speed at which the deal was closed without due diligence, and the belief that the merger will make the group one of the five largest in Israel in insurance and finance.

Emil Weinshel, founder of Vishor Globaltech, together with Yair Levenstein, CEO of Altshuler Shaham Finance, is acquiring approximately 55% of the public company's shares for NIS 1 billion, subject to approvals. In his first interview after signing the agreement, Weinshel reveals the behind-the-scenes drama: a courtship that lasted about two years, previous approaches to Yelin Lapidot and an analyst that did not materialize, and a decision to close the deal quickly and without due diligence, based on trust in Levenstein and the supervision of the Capital Market Authority. Weinshel sees the weakening returns and the flight of funds from the investment house (management dropped from NIS 244 billion in 2021 to less than half) as an opportunity, and compares the move to the acquisition of Ayalon Insurance in 2021, whose stock has since soared by 650%. He declares that the group will be one of the five largest in Israel over time, and describes the difference between himself and Gilad Altshuler: "I love what I do, work is my hobby."
