Hundreds of housing units approved in Judea and Samaria – Asahel finalized

The Supreme Planning Council approved the advancement and validation of 567 new housing units in Judea and Samaria. 342 units were approved in Asahel, which was finalized, and an additional 225 in Beit Haggai, a step expected to double the size of the settlement. Minister Smotrich welcomed the decision, stating that the regulation is done through actions, not words.

The Supreme Planning Council approved the advancement and validation of 567 new housing units in Judea and Samaria, as part of two separate plans in the settlements of Asahel and Beit Haggai. 342 housing units were approved in Asahel, and following the approval, the settlement was finalized in planning procedures after years of struggle. Concurrently, a plan for an additional 225 housing units in Beit Haggai was approved, and the Mount Hebron Regional Council says the scope of construction is expected to double the size of the settlement. Finance Minister and Minister in the Defense Ministry Bezalel Smotrich welcomed the decision, calling it "very important news for the settlement." According to him, "Against the Eisenkot-Liberman-Golan government that wants to destroy and establish a Palestinian state controlling Ben Gurion Airport and Soroka, we are regulating the settlement of Asahel and doubling Beit Haggai. Not in words but in deeds." Smotrich added that he will continue to promote construction and regulation in Judea and Samaria, saying, "We will continue to lead a wave of construction and broad regulation because this land belongs to us." Head of the Mount Hebron Regional Council, Eliram Azulai, also defined the decision as "a historic message for settlement in Mount Hebron" and said the approval is "a clear response to anyone seeking to undermine our hold on the land."
