Houthis launch missiles at Yemen's Aden airport as fighting intensifies

Iran-backed Houthis launched missiles at Aden International Airport and at Saudi cities Riyadh and Khamis Mushait on Wednesday. No casualties were reported at the airport. The Saudi-led coalition intercepted missiles aimed at both Saudi cities. The attacks come amid renewed fighting along Yemen's Red Sea coast.

Iran-backed Houthis launched missiles at Aden International Airport early on Wednesday, with no casualties reported, according to the media office of Aden's security department. The attack is part of an escalation following weeks of Houthi advances along Yemen's Red Sea coast and a Saudi-backed government counteroffensive that has recaptured areas around the strategic Bab al-Mandeb Strait with coalition air support. Later on Wednesday, the Saudi-led coalition said it intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile north of Riyadh and another aimed at Khamis Mushait. The coalition stated the missile threats originated from Houthi-controlled Sanaa and the governorates of Saada and Amran. Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah TV reported a Saudi strike in an area spanning Ibb and Taiz, though the coalition did not immediately confirm. The airport is the main international gateway serving parts of Yemen outside Houthi control.
