Three years after the massacre: the numbers behind the victory on seven fronts

The IDF publishes comprehensive data on the scope of military activity during three years of war: approximately 100,000 targets were attacked, over 31,000 rockets were fired at Israel, and 970 soldiers fell. Alongside this, extensive structural changes in the IDF are revealed following the lessons of October 7, including a 36% increase in the reserve force, a change in the intelligence assessment concept in the Military Intelligence Directorate, and the establishment of new divisions.

Three years after the October 7 massacre, the IDF publishes comprehensive data on the scope of military activity and the structural changes implemented following the failures. According to official data, approximately 100,000 targets were attacked since the outbreak of the war: about 65,000 in the Gaza Strip, about 28,000 in Lebanon and Syria, about 4,500 in Iran, and about 80 in Yemen. Over 31,000 projectiles were fired at Israel, of which about 20,000 from Lebanon and about 10,200 from Gaza. 970 soldiers fell in operational circumstances, and over 70% of the wounded returned to service. Hamas's chain of command was severely damaged: four branch heads, 17 brigade commanders, about 60 battalion commanders, and about 300 company commanders were eliminated. In Judea and Samaria, about 45,000 wanted individuals were arrested. The reserve force grew by 36%, and in August 2024, about 22,000 servicemen were returned from exemption. In the Military Intelligence Directorate, warning was placed at the top of priorities, with the establishment of a multi-arena warning headquarters. In the Air Force, the order of forces on standby was increased up to fourfold. In the Southern Command, about 40 outposts were established and over 4,000 drillings were carried out to locate tunnels. In the Northern Command, a new defense concept was formulated under the principle "army before civilians."
