Capt. Dr. B., the doctor of the Rotem Battalion in the Givati Brigade, was the only doctor in Kfar Aza from October 7, 2023, until October 9. In a special interview marking three years since the massacre, he recounts the harrowing events. At 6:30 AM, he was rushed from the Golan Heights to the Gaza envelope, unaware of the situation. Upon arriving in Sderot, he encountered grim scenes: bodies, burnt cars, and the smell of smoke and burnt flesh. In Kfar Aza, he treated about 25 wounded, both civilians and soldiers, under constant fire. He describes a difficult decision where he treated an injured daughter before her mother, a doctor, who suffered more severe burns. The family survived after being evacuated to the hospital. Today, Dr. B. serves as the head of the doctor training department at the Military Medical School, training the next generation of combat doctors. He testifies that the wound has not healed, and he still relives the events through memories, smells, and sounds. The interview describes the ongoing struggle with trauma.
