Former Hamas hostage Gadi Moses, 82, accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu of opposing a state commission of inquiry into the October 7 massacre for political reasons, in an interview with Kan News on Monday. Moses, kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Oz and released after 482 days in captivity, said Netanyahu 'knows exactly what happened' and is simply opposed to a state commission. He criticized Netanyahu's leadership for deepening divisions within Israeli society, saying Netanyahu 'won' to create a difficult separation between the different tribes of the people of Israel and caused the loss of trust in togetherness. Moses also criticized the security situation around Nir Oz, saying residents continue to live in fear despite the military presence near the Gaza border. He called for a change in how Israelis discuss the trauma of October 7, urging more gentle speech and attention to those suffering existential wounds. Nearly three years after the massacre, no state commission has been created, while opposition members have pledged to create one if they form the next government. Moses' comments come ahead of Israel's election on October 27.
