A daycare teacher from central Israel was convicted at the Petah Tikva Magistrate's Court of two counts of aggravated assault of a toddler. According to the indictment, the defendant worked as a caregiver at a daycare center in Kfar Saba, in a nursery class caring for about 31 toddlers aged two to three. On March 5, 2024, on two occasions, the defendant assaulted a toddler: first by forcefully pulling his hair, and then by pushing him from behind in the back area, causing him to fall. Judge Gil Gabai ruled that it was proven the defendant committed the acts, and convicted her of two counts of aggravated assault. The judge also criticized the prosecution for unnecessary management of the proceedings. The defense attorney argued that the behavior was aggressive but not intentional hair pulling. Sentencing will be determined later.
