Haim Levinson: "To form a government with the Joint List - Abu Shahada should not have been disqualified"

Former Haaretz journalist Haim Levinson sparked a heated debate on radio when he argued that forming a government with Ra'am and the Joint List is a civic duty, and that disqualifying Sami Abu Shahada was wrong. He attacked the right's security argument and linked it to Netanyahu's avoidance of military action before October 2023.

Former Haaretz journalist Haim Levinson ignited a tense confrontation this morning (Wednesday) on the radio program of Yinon Magal and Ben Caspit on 103FM, when he argued that forming a government with the participation of Ra'am and the Joint List is a civic duty. Levinson answered in the affirmative when asked if he would form a government with the Joint List, and said that the disqualification of Balad chairman Sami Abu Shahada was wrong. He attacked the right's security argument, according to which a government relying on Arab parties would not be able to conduct military campaigns, and pointed to Prime Minister Netanyahu's statements about the lack of internal consensus before October 2023. Levinson argued that if Netanyahu is allowed to avoid military action due to lack of consensus, the argument against a government with Arabs collapses.
