Hadash Party Chairman: "Inhumane Bombings in Gaza, We Saw Atrocities"

Dr. Yosef Jabareen, chairman of the Hadash party and the Joint List, criticized IDF operations in Gaza in a podcast interview, calling them "inhumane bombings" and "atrocities." Jabareen stated that his party condemned the October 7 massacre but emphasized that the events of that day do not justify "Israel's crimes in Gaza." The remarks were made in response to a question about why Arab public leaders avoid explicitly condemning Hamas.

Dr. Yosef Jabareen, chairman of the Hadash party and the Joint List, criticized IDF operations in the Gaza Strip in an interview on the "All in" podcast. Jabareen described the bombings as "inhumane" and said that after the October 7 massacre, "we also saw atrocities in those bombings." The remarks were made in response to a question from interviewer Yossi Marshak about why Arab public leaders do not explicitly condemn Hamas. Jabareen replied that Hadash and the Communist Party issued a statement on the same day, and that "of course we condemned the atrocities and the massacre." However, he argued that the condemnation "does not reach the Jewish public" because discourse in Arab society continued to focus on what was happening in the Strip. Jabareen quoted Muhammad Barakeh, former chairman of the Supreme Monitoring Committee, who said that "all the crimes of the occupation do not justify what happened on October 7," and immediately added: "Everything that happened on October 7 cannot justify Israel's crimes in Gaza either." Jabareen, a native of Umm al-Fahm, previously served as a Knesset member for the Joint List and as chairman of the Committee on the Rights of the Child. In May 2026, he was elected chairman of Hadash, replacing Ayman Odeh.
