Google's new model arrives with a host of particularly surprising capabilities
Google has released its flagship model Gemini 4 Argon, based on a Transformer MoE architecture with an output ceiling of up to one million tokens. The model demonstrated high performance in programming tests, solved quantum problems, programmed a robot to toss a bag into a basket, and helped clean up outdated code in Chrome. Google collaborated with the Israeli cybersecurity company Wiz to identify a critical security vulnerability in medical systems. Access to the model is open to subscribers of the expensive Google AI Pro and Ultra packages.
Google has officially released its flagship model Gemini 4 Argon, the first model in the company's fourth generation, now available in the Gemini app and the AI Studio development environment. The model is based on a Transformer MoE architecture and features an output ceiling of up to one million tokens in a single response, a significant jump from 64,000 in the previous generation. In the autonomous software engineering test DeepSWE v1.1, the model scored 77.9%, outperforming the flagship models GPT-6 Astra and Claude Opus 5.5 in programming tasks. According to Google, the model demonstrated capabilities in science and physics: it solved a historical mathematical problem, translated a quantum error decoder into a single hardware kernel that doubled computation speed, and designed biological enzymes in record time. In one experiment, an organization watched a video of a person playing a target shooting game, analyzed the physics, wrote simulation code, and transferred it to a physical humanoid robot, which tossed the bag into the target seven times in a row. Google engineers harnessed the model to scan the source code of the Chrome browser, and it extracted and cleaned about 6 million lines of outdated code. In collaboration with the Israeli cybersecurity company Wiz, the model identified a critical security vulnerability in medical software. Access to the model is open to subscribers of Google AI Pro and Ultra, while AI Plus users remain without access.
