Yashar party chairman Gadi Eisenkot harshly attacked Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in an interview on 103FM this morning, following Netanyahu's interview on Channel 14 last night. Eisenkot said he watched the entire interview and described it as "heartbreaking." "I knew this man in a completely different state, and hearing his string of lies makes me wonder if he himself believes them," he charged. Eisenkot was particularly angered by Netanyahu's claim that he opposed the conquest of Gaza: "That annoys me the most. I pushed him to maneuver in Gaza, during the discussion he asks if my son will be in the maneuver." "There is a limit to audacity and lies," he said. Eisenkot emphasized that he stopped trusting Netanyahu, and that his considerations are not national. "I think he is unfit for his position," he stated. He said that in February he proposed moving north instead of waiting for a deal, but Netanyahu was afraid to do so. The interview comes amid a Walla revelation that Netanyahu met with the Egyptian intelligence chief in May 2021, contrary to his denials.
