From war to artificial intelligence.. Alaa Al-Madhoun makes her way with knowledge

Alaa Al-Madhoun, a widow and mother from Gaza, turned war into an opportunity to learn artificial intelligence. She began her journey after her husband was martyred in 2018, completed her studies in journalism and media, then earned a master's degree in AI. Despite power and internet outages, she continued learning and became a trainer and researcher in the field, co-authoring a book on AI and quantum computing.

Alaa Al-Madhoun, a 36-year-old widow and mother of a child from Gaza, did not allow war to halt her academic and professional journey. After her husband was martyred in 2018 during the Great March of Return, she returned to university to complete her studies in journalism and media, then enrolled in a master's program. At a time when artificial intelligence was not widespread, she chose her thesis topic in this field and contacted academics from Iraq and Egypt for references. She defended her thesis in 2022. During the war on Gaza, she continued learning despite communication and power outages, and volunteered at the University College as part of a project on AI and media. She co-authored a book on AI and quantum computing, and had to walk to Nuseirat to deliver a chapter. Today, she is an AI trainer focusing on prompt engineering, believing that the accuracy of input determines the accuracy of output. She sees that the war revealed a new energy among Palestinian youth and an increasing desire to learn.
