The pilot, a Colombian citizen, was seriously injured. According to reports in Colombia, the paraglider crashed likely due to weather conditions, at some point losing control and crashing in a wooded area. Rescue and firefighting forces arrived at the scene to extract the body of the Israeli, who was killed on the spot, and to transfer the pilot for medical treatment. Eyewitnesses reported strong winds in the area before the disaster. Agents of the General Prosecutor's Investigation Unit (CTI) arrived at the scene to conduct a forensic examination of the body and simultaneously began collecting evidence. Authorities inspected the business that rented the paraglider and found that all documents were in order and legal. The Chabad emissary in the city, Rabbi Levi Venuno, is working in cooperation with the Israeli Embassy with local authorities to expedite the procedures for returning the coffin for burial in Israel.
