Gurelitsky, a founder of the Israeli Union of Performing Artists (AMI) and head of the Eshkolot royalties collection company for nearly four decades, leaves behind a vast cultural legacy. Born on July 14, 1935, in Tel Aviv, his first name was given as a tribute to Soviet leader Vladimir Ilyich Lenin. He began his career at age 17 at the Cameri Theater and later served in the Central Command Entertainment Troupe. His most iconic role was the dual part in "King Solomon and Shlomi the Cobbler," where he played two characters identical in appearance but opposite in nature. His film career included movies such as "A Bunch of That Kind," "Three Days and a Child," and "Patrol." On television, he hosted a science program on Channel 1, and to a younger generation, he is known as the voice of Kaa the snake in the Hebrew dub of "The Jungle Book." Gurelitsky published two philosophy books and received the Yakir Tel Aviv award in 2019. He was married to actress Gila Almagor, painter Doris Rau, and dancer Ruthi Lerman, and leaves behind four children, including musician Adam Gurelitsky. His partner in recent decades was Anat Globus.
