Following the Nukhba maps: The Air Force's new reconnaissance unit revealed — with female fighters only

In the wake of the October 7 failures, the Israeli Air Force unveils its new 'Arad' reconnaissance unit — an elite unit composed solely of female fighters, set to complete its training soon and secure strategic bases. Concurrently, a transfer of special forces, including the Golani Brigade headquarters, to Ramat David Airbase is being considered.

The Israeli Air Force is establishing a new elite unit named 'Arad', composed exclusively of female fighters, tasked with securing the service's bases following lessons from the October 7 attack. The unit will operate under Wing 7, which encompasses the Air Force's commando units, including Shaldag and Unit 669. The female fighters will undergo a training course similar to that of reconnaissance and elite units, and will be responsible for overt and covert patrols, arrests, drone interdiction, and providing immediate response in the event of a base infiltration. The first cohort, comprising dozens of female fighters, is expected to complete its training next week and will be stationed at Nevatim Airbase. Concurrently, the Air Force is leading a plan to integrate elite and infantry units within its bases, including the transfer of the Golani Brigade headquarters, Egoz, and Golani Reconnaissance to Ramat David Airbase. The decision was made following the State Comptroller's report, which found severe deficiencies in base security, and after maps showing routes to the Hatzerim, Hatzor, and Tel Nof bases were found on Hamas terrorists during the October 7 attack.
