Following the discovery of additional unexploded ordnance and rocket remnants in the Ramim Ridge area, the region has been declared a closed military zone. The declaration comes after this area was the site of a disaster earlier this month, in which 14-year-old Elazar Yair Vilensky was killed by an explosion of unexploded ordnance during a school trip. The Kiryat Shmona municipality spokesperson issued a notice to residents stating that IDF forces are working to locate and clear the ordnance, and that searches are expected to continue tomorrow. The public is asked to avoid the area and report suspicious objects. The disaster occurred near Mitzpeh Pa'ar, about fifty to one hundred meters from the border, and 24 students and teachers were injured in the incident. It is assessed that the ordnance is a Hezbollah missile or shell that was fired into the area during the war and did not explode.
