The Tel Aviv District Police arrested a suspect yesterday (Sunday) in Ashdod who is suspected of being behind a wave of five arson attacks that occurred in Tel Aviv and Holon within five days. The arrest came after two other suspects were arrested last week for carrying out the arsons. According to the suspicion, four of the arsons took place in Tel Aviv and one additional in Holon, all targeting apartments connected to the same individual and his family members. The suspect was brought to a legal proceeding, and at its conclusion, his detention was extended by a week. The arsons caused heavy damage: in one case, an apartment was completely burned, and in other cases, lobbies and elevators were burned, and residents were evacuated from their homes. Two men were arrested last week on suspicion of setting fire to the lobby of a residential building in Holon, against the background of a criminal dispute. The investigation is ongoing.
