Bernstein and her partner were convicted of carrying out tasks for an Iranian agent, including spraying graffiti, hiding money, attempting to sabotage ATMs, and setting vehicles on fire. Her partner was additionally charged with promoting two assassination plots in Israel and attempting to obtain a grenade and a sniper rifle. During her investigation, Bernstein admitted that she understood he was a "dangerous terrorist" but chose to turn a blind eye. The prosecution strongly opposed her release, arguing that the framework she was headed to allows some of its residents to leave and use mobile phones. Despite this, the court accepted the defense's request and ordered her release to an alternative arrangement.
