A police officer from the Southern District is under investigation on suspicion of passing information from police systems to unauthorized parties and criminals. The investigation was opened by the Police Internal Investigations Department (Mahash) last month, following suspicions that the officer retrieved police information for a resident of the Bedouin diaspora. During the investigation, additional evidence was gathered, raising suspicions that this was not a one-time incident. The officer is being investigated, among other things, on suspicion of fraud, breach of trust, and obstruction of justice. The police responded that the case is being handled by the Police Internal Investigations Department and they are unable to comment on its details. Attorney Abu Jameh Odeh, representing the officer, stated that his client appeared for the investigation, fully cooperated, and categorically denied the allegations against her. According to him, no objective evidence was presented to her during the investigation to substantiate the suspicions.
