The family of the late Eldar Dayan is taking legal steps against the Israel Police. Through attorney Sapir Perdo, his parents sent a warning letter before taking legal action to the Dimona station in the Southern District. The letter contains severe allegations regarding the conduct of the investigation: wrong decisions made based on "prejudices" and a partial picture, failure to exhaust major investigative leads, failure to collect forensic and digital evidence in time, failure to check contradictions in the versions of those involved, and failure to conduct required confrontations and investigation completions. The family demands the establishment of a commission of inquiry to examine the conduct of all factors at the station, "from the patrol officers to the station commander", and to transfer the case for a renewed review by a senior official who was not involved. The letter asks: "If the police had not delayed in examining the matters from the first week - would Eldar be alive today?" The family warns that if a satisfactory response is not received, it will consider turning to additional legal instances.
