First Generation Syndrome: We Tested the Foldable iPhone Duo

Globes tested Apple's foldable iPhone Duo for about a week. The device impresses with its design and internal screen, but suffers from high thickness and weight, a cramped external screen, unoptimized apps, and an exceptionally high price starting at NIS 8,200. Only 500 units arrived in Israel.

Globes tested Apple's foldable iPhone Duo for about a week and concludes that while there is potential, the product is not yet mature. Only 500 devices arrived in Israel. The device features a 7.6-inch foldable internal screen, a titanium frame, IP68 water resistance, and an A20 Pro processor. The main drawbacks are a thickness of 11.3 mm when folded and a weight of 254 grams, making it bulky and heavy. The internal screen impresses with brightness up to 3,000 nits, but the crease is still noticeable. The external 5.4-inch screen is cramped and limited. Performance is good, but unoptimized apps cause display glitches. The dual 48-megapixel camera performs well in daylight but lacks a telephoto lens. The 4,883 mAh battery lasts nearly a full day with mixed use, and fast charging (40 minutes to full) compensates. Prices in Israel start at NIS 8,200 and go up to NIS 13,300 for the high-end version. Competitors include the Samsung Fold, Google Pixel Fold, and Chinese foldables. Disclosure: Dynamics, Apple's official importer, provided the device for review.
