The automatic enforcement camera system installed at Ben Gurion Airport in August 2024 has led to a 709% increase in traffic tickets within three years: from 6,305 tickets in 2022 to 50,995 in 2025. The data, prepared at the request of MK Shalom Danino by the Knesset Research and Information Center, shows that the most common violation is parking contrary to a sign (46,278 tickets, 91% of the total). Fine revenues between 2022 and 2025 totaled approximately 28.4 million shekels, of which about 16.5 million shekels were collected in 2025 alone. All funds go to the state treasury, contrary to the common claim that the airport funds itself from fines. The Israel Airports Authority explains that the cameras are intended to reduce dangerous parking and protect inspectors. Since June 2026, a dedicated waiting lot has been operating with the first hour free. The article also warns about fake ticket messages being distributed on WhatsApp.
