Elections: Netanyahu and Ben Gvir summon police commissioner for meeting on election integrity
Prime Minister Netanyahu summoned Police Commissioner Danny Levy to a meeting on election integrity with Ben Gvir, without opposition or election committee representatives. Levy previously refused a similar meeting at Ben Gvir's office. The Joint List petitioned the High Court against armed observers at polling stations.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu summoned Police Commissioner Chief Superintendent Danny Levy to a meeting on Sunday regarding election integrity, with National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir in attendance. No opposition or election committee representatives were invited. The Prime Minister's Office claimed it was a routine pre-election meeting. Commissioner Levy previously refused to attend a similar meeting at Ben Gvir's office but is expected to attend Netanyahu's. About a week and a half ago, Levy held a meeting with the acting director general of the Central Elections Committee on election preparations, attended by senior police, IDF, and Shin Bet command staff. Levy stated that the police are apolitical and professional. Meanwhile, the Joint List and Adalah Center petitioned the High Court demanding a ban on armed observers at polling stations, following the Likud and Religious Zionism announcement of deploying about 2,000 observers in "Arab concentrations."
